Santiago Martinez Nevarez
My name is Santiago Martinez Nevarez; I am 20 years old, born in Tijuana, Baja California, and currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Four years ago, I accompanied my dad to a golf course and fell in love with the game. I started playing at the Club Campestre at Tijuana knowing absolutely nothing; a friend gave me a bag of clubs and balls. Naturally, I was frustrated at first, but eager to learn, so I played on my own—making mistakes and learning as I went—but above all, I never lost hope or the desire to learn more. I didn't know what the clubs or balls were—I just hit them. I gradually bought equipment as needed and played at various courses in both Mexico and the United States. For some reason, I’ve mostly ended up playing with older people rather than those my own age. Thanks to that, I’ve received valuable advice and gained years of practical experience. I know I still have a long way to go, but golf is my passion and my goal is to become a professional. I practice for over five hours every day, and i play at the course two or three times a week, and watch YouTube videos. Along the way, I’ve met many people who have supported and believed in me. Currently, my handicap is 1.4 and my average drive is 305 yards... My home course, where I practice daily, at Stallion Mountain Golf club and a member.
Today, I am asking for any help possible so I can continue playing. In return, I offer my commitment to becoming a professional, winning titles, and sharing whatever earnings—large or small—I make with those who support me.
I have never competed in a tournament; that is my dream and my next step. I know it won't be easy at first, but I know I’ll succeed. Participating in tournaments is expensive, and I don't have the funds to cover the costs. If you can help in any way, I would be deeply grateful; we would become partners in this dream and this beautiful sport. I don't care if it's 10 or 20 dollars; it all helps me keep going with the best sport in the world. Thank you very much... Oh, and I almost forgot: whenever you like, we can play together—I’d be happy to meet you and play a game.
